i have to give my macbook back to my employer. How do i clean it up?

Clickhereand follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, when you reach step 5, insert its original disk, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.

Your employer owns it - not you -- so if you made the mistake of putting any personal stuff on it - delete that info - other than that your employer's IT people would be the ones to clean it up - and save any company related information.

Going forward - never put your personal stuff on a company owned computer -- including emails.
